A commonly wasted agricultural waste, pomegranate peel has attracted attention as a useful biomaterial with a wide range of potential uses. Fruit and vegetable wastes create environmental difficulties, as well as a loss of valuable biomass and a financial cost to enterprises, due to its high biodegradability.

Serdang, 15 April 2026 – The Sustainable Bioresource Management Laboratory (BIOREM), Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (INTROP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organized a seminar entitled “From Explant to Plantlet: An Introduction to Plant Tissue Culture.” The program, held at the Arenga Seminar Room, attracted a total of 13 participants, comprising UPM students as well as representatives from various external agencies. This seminar was one of BIOREM’s strategic initiatives to support the direction of the Higher Institution Centers of Excellence (HICoE) Phase II, focusing on tropical wood-based products, in line with the recognition by the Department of Higher Education (JPT).
